Hot Rolled Bar
Hot rolled steel bar is primarily produced from recycled scrap metal in electric arc furnaces or iron ore / coke in blast furnaces. The iron is used to make steel and semi-finished steel products such as ingots and billets. These ingots and or billets are reheated and forced through a series of machined rolls to form their shape. Hot rolled bars are the primary feedstock for many different forging and machining applications and used in their "as rolled condition". The main advantage of hot rolled steel is that it costs less than cold finished steel, as it is widely used in applications where surface quality and dimensional accuracy are less important.
